Bachelorette Party Fishing Charters in Islamorada | A Fishing Guru

A fish with a large, shiny silver head and golden body jumping out of rippling water creating splashes.

A private fishing charter in Islamorada is a genuinely different bachelorette experience — on the water, away from the usual options, with something to actually do together. Our charters are fully private, fully equipped, and run by local captains who know how to keep a group engaged regardless of how much fishing experience anyone in it has. Everything is included. You pick the trip style; the rest is handled.

Two Charter Options for Bachelorette Groups

Backcountry and inshore charters run on Little Guru, our 24' Shallow Sport. Calm, protected water in Florida Bay — tarpon, redfish, snook, and seatrout on the flats. This is the quieter, more scenic option. Ideal for groups who want a relaxed day with good photo opportunities and steady fishing action without the open-ocean conditions of an offshore trip. Up to 5 guests. Starts at $600 for a half day.

Offshore charters run on Big Guru, our 39' Contender. Open Atlantic water, mahi-mahi, wahoo, and tuna. Faster-paced, more demanding, and more likely to produce the kind of big-moment fishing that everyone on the boat reacts to. Up to 6 guests. Starts at $900 for a half day, $1,750 for a full day.

Compare both charter styles on our Islamorada fishing charters page.

What to Expect on the Water

Before you leave the dock, your captain walks the group through the plan and shows everyone the basics — how to hold the rod, how to set the hook, how to reel. For groups with no fishing experience, it comes together quickly. The captain handles the technical side and keeps the fishing moving throughout the day.

Bring what you want to bring — drinks, snacks, decorations, coordinating outfits, a speaker. There's cooler space aboard and the boat is yours for the duration of the trip. Our captains run professional, well-organized trips; the experience is yours to shape around that.

Best Species for Bachelorette Charters

  • Mahi-Mahi — school fish that often produce multiple hookups simultaneously; fast, visual fighters
  • Wahoo — Islamorada's signature species; large, spectacular, and technically interesting
  • Yellowtail SnnaperT — consistent action throughout the trip, a good option for mixed experience levels
  • S — sight-fishing in shallow water, great for groups who want to be actively involved in the process
  • Spotted Seatrout — reliable action on Florida Bay grassbeds, ideal for a relaxed backcountry day
For context on the sport and conservation behind what we do, the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) is a good resource.

Inshore or Offshore — Which Is Right for Your Group?

If the bride-to-be or most of the group hasn't fished before, the inshore backcountry trip on Little Guru is usually the better starting point. Calm water, shorter runs, and consistent action on snapper, redfish, and seatrout make it accessible and enjoyable regardless of experience level. Captain Travis runs a patient, hands-on inshore trip that works well for groups.

If the group is up for something more adventurous, the offshore trip on Big Guru with Captain Dylan is a different category of experience. Mahi-mahi are the top target for bachelorette groups going offshore — they're aggressive, visual fighters, and the hookup moments produce the kind of group energy that makes for great memories.

FAQs

Do we need any fishing experience?

None at all. The majority of our group charters run with people who have never held a fishing rod. Your captain will explain everything before you leave the dock and coach the group throughout the trip. Most first-time anglers catch fish and want to go again.

How many people can join the charter?

Little Guru (inshore) holds up to 5 guests. Big Guru (offshore) holds up to 6. For bachelorette groups larger than 6, contact us and we'll discuss whether a second boat makes sense for your party.

Can we bring food and drinks?

Yes. Bring a cooler with whatever you'd like. We have space aboard. Bottled water and ice are included as part of the charter — anything additional is up to you.

What should we wear?

Non-slip shoes (sandals with straps are fine; flip-flops aren't ideal on a wet deck), light comfortable clothing, and sun protection. Reef-safe sunscreen is appreciated given the waters we fish in. Polarized sunglasses make a real difference on the water.

What's included?

All bait, tackle, and fishing licenses. Bottled water and ice. Fish cleaned and bagged at the dock. Gratuity for the captain is not included but is standard and appreciated.
